Lemon OG Candy Seed Review
Seed Review: Lemon OG Candy
Genetics: Amnesia Haze x Super Lemon OG Breeder: Philosopher Seeds Type: 65% Sativa / 35% Indica Flowering Time: 9–10 Weeks Difficulty: Low to Moderate (Easy for a Haze hybrid, very vigorous) Yield Potential: High (500–600g/m²)
🏗️ The Executive Summary
Lemon OG Candy is the "Dessert Haze." Bred by the Spanish collective Philosopher Seeds, this strain was designed to modernize the classic Amnesia Haze by crossing it with a select Super Lemon OG.
The goal was to keep the soaring, energetic high and massive yield of the Haze, but replace the spicy/metallic terpene profile with something sweeter and more palatable for the modern market. The result is a plant that smells exactly like its name: sugary lemon drops and citric acid, without the chemical "floor cleaner" smell of older lemon strains. It is a fantastic introduction to Haze genetics for growers who are intimidated by the difficulty of growing pure Sativas.
Why Grow It? You grow Lemon OG Candy for the Terpenes and the Vigor. It grows incredibly fast, filling a tent in record time, and produces resin that is surprisingly sticky (the OG influence) for a Sativa-dominant plant. It is an "Intro to Haze" that doesn't punish you for mistakes.
🚜 The Simulated Grow Journal
Setup:
Environment: 5x5 Gorilla Grow Tent.
Lighting: 650W High-Efficiency LED (Full Spectrum).
Medium: 10 Gallon Smart Pots (Coco/Perlite Mix).
Count: 4 Plants.
Training: Topping & SCROG (Essential for Haze hybrids).
🌱 The Vegetative Phase (Weeks 1–4)
Week 1 (Speed): This plant has "Hybrid Vigor" on steroids. The seeds germinate rapidly, and the seedlings are robust.
Week 2 (Structure): It grows with Sativa structure—long distances between nodes and thin leaves—but the stems are thicker than a pure Amnesia.
Week 3 (Training): Topping is mandatory. We top at node 4 and node 6. We want to diffuse the energy into a bush, or else it will create one massive central spire that hits the light.
Week 4 (The Flip): The vegetative growth is so fast that we flip early (Day 28). The plants look ready. We install a trellis net at 18 inches.
🌸 The Flowering Phase (Weeks 1–10)
Week 1 (The Stretch): The Amnesia parentage wakes up. The plants stretch about 100-150%. We weave branches horizontally through the net daily.
Week 2 (Pistils): Flowering begins. The plant is hungry—it eats Nitrogen later into flower than an OG Kush would. We keep the EC moderate (1.8).
Week 3 (Aroma): The scent arrives early. It is bright, zesty, and sweet.
Week 4 (Resin): The trichomes begin to form. Unlike the dry, sandy trichomes of some Hazes, these are greasy and sticky to the touch.
Week 5 (Stacking): The buds are voluminous. They are shaped like candles—long and cylindrical.
Week 6 (Feeding): We boost the PK (Phosphorus/Potassium). The plant handles nutrients well and rarely shows burn unless pushed to extremes.
Week 7 (Terpenes): The "Candy" aspect reveals itself. The smell shifts from raw lemon peel to sweet, crystallized sugar. It is very pleasant and not overpowering.
Week 8 (The Wait): The pistils are still white. The Haze genetics mean it needs time to ripen. Patience is key here.
Week 9 (Ripening): The calyxes swell significantly in the final week. The buds become quite dense for a Sativa.
Week 10 (Harvest): We chop at day 65–68. We want to preserve the cerebral, creative high, so we harvest when trichomes are milky with very little amber.
⚖️ The Harvest Report
Wet Weight: The branches are heavy but sturdy enough that they didn't need yo-yos, thanks to the OG influence.
Dry Weight: The 4 plants yielded 1.9 lbs (approx 850g).
Bag Appeal: Beautiful. Light, neon green buds with bright orange hairs. The frost is heavy, giving them a "candied" look that matches the name.
🏁 The Architect's Verdict
Lemon OG Candy is the Sweet Sativa.
It bridges the gap perfectly between the old-school Haze lovers and the new-school flavor chasers. It offers the yield and effect of a Haze without the 12-week flowering time or the difficult height management. It is a joyful plant to grow and a joyful smoke.
Score: 9.2/10 (Flavor + Ease) Best For: Haze beginners, Sativa lovers who want sticky buds, and flavor chasers.
