Green Crack Seed Review

Genetics: Skunk #1 x Unknown Indica (Likely Afghani) Breeder: Cecil C. (Original "Cush" Cut) / Popularized by Snoop Dogg Type: 65% Sativa / 35% Indica Flowering Time: 7–8 Weeks (Extremely Fast for a Sativa effect) Difficulty: Low (Vigorous and forgiving) Yield Potential: High (600g/m²)

🏗️ The Executive Summary

Green Crack is a genetic paradox. It offers the racing, high-octane cerebral energy of a pure Sativa, but it grows with the speed, density, and structure of a pure Indica. Originally named "Cush" (with a 'C') by its breeder Cecil C. in Athens, Ohio, it was famously renamed by Snoop Dogg in the early 2000s because the high was so intense and craveable that he dubbed it "Green Crack."

Despite the controversial name, this strain is a staple of the industry. It is the ultimate "Morning Weed." Unlike Haze strains that take 12 weeks to finish, Green Crack sprints to the finish line in as little as 50 days. It is revered for its distinct terpene profile: a sharp, sweet mango-citrus tang that is instantly recognizable.

Why Grow It? You grow Green Crack if you want Sativa effects without the Sativa wait. If you are an impatience grower who hates the 12-week flowering time of a Super Silver Haze, Green Crack gives you that same electric buzz in the time it takes to grow a Northern Lights.

🚜 The Grow Journal

Setup:

  • Environment: 5x5 Gorilla Grow Tent.

  • Lighting: 650W High-Efficiency LED (Full Spectrum).

  • Medium: 10 Gallon Smart Pots (Organic Super Soil).

  • Count: 4 Plants.

  • Training: Topping & LST (Low Stress Training).

🌱 The Vegetative Phase (Weeks 1–4)

  • Week 1 (Speed): The name fits the growth rate. These plants move fast. Seedlings establish roots aggressively.

  • Week 2 (Structure): Despite the Sativa effect, the leaves are surprisingly broad and the internodal spacing is tight (Indica influence). It grows like a bush, not a vine.

  • Week 3 (Topping): We top at the 5th node. The plant responds beautifully, immediately sending energy to the side branches.

  • Week 4 (The Flip): The plants are remarkably uniform. We flip to 12/12 early (Day 30) because we know the harvest window is short, allowing for a quick turnaround.

🌸 The Flowering Phase (Weeks 1–8)

  • Week 1 (Stretch): The stretch is manageable—about 50–75%. It doesn't explode like Blue Dream. It stays relatively compact, making it excellent for tents with height restrictions.

  • Week 2 (Pistils): Flowering is rapid. By day 10 of 12/12, we see established button buds.

  • Week 3 (Aroma): The mango scent begins. It is sweet, tropical, and tangy. Unlike the skunky funk of Critical Mass, this smells like a fruit stand.

  • Week 4 (Color): The pistils turn orange earlier than most strains. The plant looks like it's in a rush.

  • Week 5 (Bulking): The buds are dense and pointed (spade-shaped). They are not fluffy Sativa buds; they are hard nuggets. We support the main branches because the weight-to-stem ratio can get dangerous.

  • Week 6 (The Fade): Green Crack is a "lighter green" plant generally, but late in flower, the fan leaves yellow rapidly as it dumps all energy into the fruit.

  • Week 7 (Ripening): The smell is overwhelming—pure mango nectar and citrus zest. The trichome coverage is high, but the resin is "greasy" rather than sandy.

  • Week 8 (Harvest): By day 50–55, she is done. This is incredibly fast for a plant that gives you a head high. We harvest with mostly cloudy trichomes to maximize the energetic effect.

⚖️ The Harvest Report

  • Wet Weight: The buds are solid. Trimming is easy because the leaf-to-calyx ratio is excellent (not too many leaves).

  • Dry Weight: The 4 plants yielded 1.9 lbs (approx 860g).

  • Bag Appeal: Bright, neon green buds with rust-orange hairs. They look "electric." The jar smell is undeniably mango.

🏁 The Architect's Verdict

Green Crack is the Energy Drink.

It is the working man's Sativa. It gets you up, gets you moving, and grows fast enough to keep the jars full year-round. While the name pushes some people away, the genetics are undeniable. It is one of the most efficient plants in the history of cannabis breeding.

Score: 9.1/10 (Efficiency + Terpenes) Best For: Morning smokers, "Sativa" lovers with limited height/time, and fruit terpene chasers.
