The name "Critical Mass" is not marketing hype; it is a warning. This strain was named because at peak flowering, the plant reaches a "critical mass" where the biomass of the buds exceeds the structural integrity of the branches, causing them to snap without support. It became the backbone of the Spanish commercial cannabis industry (the "Critical" craze) because it finishes lightning fast (45–55 days) and yields more than almost anything else on Earth.
Why Grow It? You grow Critical Mass when you want the yield of a cash-cropper but the flavor of a connoisseur Skunk. It offers a sweet, earthy, citrus-skunk profile that is far superior to the grassy taste of older yield strains.

🌱 The Vegetative Phase (Weeks 1–4)
Week 1 (Vigor): Critical Mass is explosive. It grows faster than Big Bud. By day 7, the seedlings are already fighting for space.
Week 2 (Structure): The plant grows with a classic Skunk structure—open branching but thick stems.
Week 3 (Training): We top aggressively. Unlike the squat Big Bud, Critical Mass has some Skunk stretch. We place the first trellis net early (12 inches) to spread the canopy horizontally.
Week 4 (The Flip): The plants have filled 80% of the 5x5 space. We flip to 12/12 earlier than usual because this strain stretches rapidly.
🌸 The Flowering Phase (Weeks 1–8)
Week 1 (Stretch): The plants double in size. The vigor is intimidating. We are tucking branches under the net daily to keep the canopy flat.
